IGEP certifies according to ISO 9001
On 11.09.2009 the IGEP Foundation in Gurgaon, Haryana (India) received the international recognition as a certification agency according to ISO, IEC 17021 from ETCS S.A. Luxembourgh (Luxemburg)
IGEP is therefore globally permitted to carry out certification of management systems according to ISO 9001.
With this IGEP has achieved another quantum leap in quality. So far, IGEP was known because of the internationally recognized standard Rugmark as a synonym for products without child labor. Through the combination of the label with international standards, it is possible that the auditors of IGEP do the Rugmark tests together with quality management audits of ISO 9001.
Companies awarded with the combination of the Rugmark label and ISO 9001 therefore demonstrate that they meet all existing relevant laws of each country and also the ethical principles of WHO. They are working on the basis of a worldwide recognized standard.
With the accreditation of IGEP thus not only the issue of child labor in the stone industry is tested, but also the compliance with internationally recognized norms. Companies certified by the IGEP in future according to ISO 9001, thus are not only attested for sticking to legal ethical principles ( prohibition of child labour, compliance with health and safety measures, payment of minimum wages etc.) through the certification according to ISO 9001, but also get an internationally recognized access to world markets.
Dr. Kebschull sees this accreditation as another important step towards quality assurance, enhancement of business in the producing countries and improvement of living conditions of people in third countries. Humanity, social commitment and economic growth – so IGEP Chairman Dr. Kebschull – go hand in hand with the consequence that there will be only winners.
